The Key to Facebook Engagement

Everyone has heard of the “algorithms” that social media platforms, like Facebook, use. These algorithms are constantly changing and it can be difficult to keep up with these changes. There are several “hacks” that can help you keep your page relevant and push your content out to the right audience.

The frequency of your posts matter!

The first rule is to make sure you are posting every day, even if you are only posting on your story. Keep the best content on your feed and any additional content on your story! The first post of the day is the one that always matters the most according to the algorithm. Ideally, assuming you have the content, you should post twice a day. It is ideal to post your second post at least 5 hours after your first one has been posted.

Create engaging content!

When you create engaging content, users are more likely to interact with the posts. They may strike up a conversation or ask certain questions; engage back! Social media apps want users to engage with one another because it keeps people on their app/site longer.

Utilize evergreen content!

This is content that is continually relevant; sometimes social platforms like Facebook do not show your post until days later. It is important to ensure that the information in the post is still accurate when the consumer comes across the post. Be mindful that content should still be relevant weeks later, even though most people will see it within a few days (unless it is a paid promotion).

Only post vertical videos!

Social media apps are all now optimized for vertical videos; these are videos that are designed to fill the full length of the phone when users are viewing in their apps. Think TikToks, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and so on.

Avoid links in the description of your captions!

Facebook, like other social platforms, wants to avoid users leaving their platforms. This makes it important for content creators to know to avoid links in the captions at all times! If the algorithm picks up on the link, it is very likely to kill your content’s performance. You can usually get around it by adding links in the comments or asking users to visit your profile for links to your site, booking page, et cetera.

Ensure your content provides values to your users!

People love getting help with different things, especially if that help comes free. This can be things like helpful tips, e-books, easy at-home workouts, and so on. If your posts are providing users some kind of value, the chances of them continuing to follow and engage with your content are higher. A great tip is to ensure you don’t get so caught up in your branding that you ignore what your customers are looking for!

Train the algorithm!

Engage with relevant customers and do so often; engagement can look like commenting or messaging with a customer, liking their posts, sharing others content, etc. Algorithms reward those who engage!
