Your 6 Step Guide to Creating Content

Social media marketing is so essential; the need for it is growing everyday. With the ever-changing algorithms, figuring out what to create and how to stay relevant is harder than it has been in the past. There is no need to panic – we’ve got you covered with this 6 step guide.

  1. Set your goals. Deciding what you are looking to achieve with your content is the first step; to reach a goal, you need a plan. Inversely, without a plan, there is no goal. Understanding if you are striving for brand awareness, exposure, new leads, and so on is a key part of determining what you need to post.

  2. Look up hashtags using relevant keywords to see what is popular. Now that you have your goals, use those and your knowledge of your brand to determine a few keywords that are relevant to your funnel position. You can search these as hashtags on different social channels and see what pieces of content are getting the best results.

  3. Create a favorites list. Almost all social media channels have a place for you to store your favorite posts; use this feature to save posts you like when you are looking through hashtags. You can go back and view them when it is time for you to create your own content.

  4. Find trending audio. Videos are being prioritized consistently throughout social channels. The process of finding trending audio is different for each platform, but it is likely that you are hearing the same sounds over and over as you are exploring other content. Keep those sounds in mind and save them.

  5. See what is popular on your “For You Page” or “Explore” pages. Spend some time looking at the page that has content recommended for you; chances are, you engage in a lot of content that is similar to your brand. This means the algorithm is showing you more content similar to your brand; utilize this tool to see what others (competitors) are putting out there.

  6. Create a workflow. Start going through your favorites and see how you can align them with trending posts and audio; develop a quick outline with your thoughts and overall structure for the campaign. Decide on high-quality links to embed into your content for your views. Now, just get started putting all these ideas together. Start a rough draft and give it some time to settle, then come to review and edit. Have someone else approve or send edits for the content. You’re ready to publish!
